About The Blog

Thank you for taking a look at the Ginn Academy blog, where we share photos and stories about students, classes, teachers, parents, Coach Ginn -- everyone who makes up this very special family.

My name is Karin McKenna and I'm a freelance photographer. This project with The Ginn Academy was born out of personal interest and concern for my much-loved city of Cleveland and, by extension, my own children's futures. I started working here during a documentary photography class that I took in 2009. I had planned to stay for just the semester, but when the time came, I couldn't bring myself to leave. There was so much potential and so much work to be done; I had to stay and help them share their stories.

After all this time, I still find it amazing that The Ginn Academy is the result of the passion of one man to make a difference in his part of the world. Ted Ginn, Sr. understands kids' worlds; he can read their hearts and he knows how to get through to them. I've witnessed the stories as they've unfolded, the differences made in the kids' lives, and I feel honored to be a part of this place and able to share the inspiring things happening here.

We appreciate your interest in us and hope that you'll come back for updates. In fact, just to your right on this page, you can enter your email address so that you're notified about our posts. You can also send me a note to be added to our mailing list.

Thank you,
Karin McKenna
